Licenses
According to the ATF “Cerakoting is a manufacturing activity.” Listed under Ruling 2010-10, any application that enhances durability is considered a manufacturing activity. Stated in Ruling 2009-5, Manufacturers must hold a Type 07 FFL.
How does this affect you?
Most applicators do not have the correct licenses to legally Cerakote firearms. IA Coatings holds all the required federal licenses, to be able to work on your weapons.
